Free Camping Guide Around Salda Lake 2026 - How to Get There, What to Do?

Salda Lake, often referred to as Turkey's "Maldives," is one of our country's most fascinating natural wonders with its turquoise blue waters and pristine white beaches. Located within the borders of the Yeşilova district in Burdur province, this crater lake stands out for both its geological features and unparalleled beauty. The high mineral content in the lake water (especially hydromagnesite) is responsible for the white sands and crystal-clear turquoise water. It also holds great scientific importance, as NASA has compared it to the Jezero Crater on Mars.

Camping at Salda Lake means watching the morning sun hit the white sands, swimming in turquoise waters throughout the day, and sleeping under a star-filled sky at night. However, as the lake's popularity has grown, conservation measures have been tightened, making it crucial to be well-informed about camping spots and rules.

Where is Salda Lake Located?

Salda Lake is located in the Yeşilova district of Burdur province, 50 km from Burdur city center and 150 km from Antalya. The lake is situated in the southwest of the Lakes Region.

Getting There by Private Car

Reaching Salda Lake by private car is easy, and the roads are in good condition.

From Antalya: Take the Antalya-Burdur highway to Burdur, then head towards Yeşilova-Salda Lake (approx. 150 km, 2-2.5 hours).

From Burdur: The Burdur center-Yeşilova-Salda Lake route is 50 km, taking about 45 minutes. Follow the Salda Lake signs after Yeşilova.

From Denizli: The Denizli-Çardak-Yeşilova-Salda Lake route is about 120 km, taking 1.5-2 hours.

From Isparta: The Isparta-Eğirdir-Barla-Yeşilova-Salda route is about 140 km, taking 2 hours.

Access to the lakeshore: There is an asphalt road branching off the main road to the White Islands area (paid entry, 20-30 TL daily). Alternative camping spots (Doğanbaba, Kayadibi) are reached via dirt roads, so drive carefully.

Parking: There is an organized parking lot in the White Islands area (paid). At other spots, you can park in open areas.

Reaching Salda Lake by public transport is a bit challenging but possible.

By Bus: You can first take a bus to Burdur or Denizli, and from there, take a minibus to Yeşilova.

Getting to Burdur: There are bus services to Burdur from cities like Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya. Companies like Pamukkale and Kamil Koç operate these routes.

Yeşilova-Salda Lake: There is no public transport from Yeşilova to Salda Lake. You need to take a taxi (approx. 15 km, 100-150 TL). Alternatively, you can try hitchhiking (traffic is heavy in summer, so your chances are high).

From Denizli: Denizli-Yeşilova minibus services are available (2-3 times a day). From there, take a taxi to the lake.

Returning: You can head back to Yeşilova and find a minibus to Burdur or Denizli from there.

Campsite Features and Facilities
