Kaçkar Mountains Camp

The Kaçkar Mountains, rising on the border of Artvin and Rize provinces, are the highest Black Sea mountain range in Turkey. The 3,937-meter-high Kaçkar peak and its surrounding glacial lakes (pokuts) create Turkey's most ambitious destination for advanced alpine camping.

• Amlakıt - Dilberdüzü: Camping spots along the popular trekking route
• Büyük Deniz Lake: Glacial lake camping spot at 2,800 m
• Yıldız Lakes: A series of multiple glacial lakes at 3,200 m
• Avusor Plateau: Traditional highland culture on the southern slopes
• Flora: Kaçkar endemics; Georgian tulip, Kaçkar yellow soapwort

It is located within a border zone. Prior permission must be obtained via e-Government (e-Devlet).

Transportation

Varies depending on the route from Artvin or Rize; Yusufeli or Pazar/Ardeşen villages are the starting points.
